VISITORS!My sister-in-law Erin and my nephew Kaleb came to visit us from Texas! They stayed with our in-laws but came over to see Zach for the first time on Tuesday. I was worried about Jared, because sometimes he gets territorial about kids coming to his house to play with HIS toys, but he and Kaleb (20 months) had a BLAST together. They shared as well as you can expect from kids their age, and just genuinely enjoyed each others' company. I was so happy!
We couldn't seem to get the two to nap at the same time, though. Tuesday, Jared refused to nap altogether, so we took two slightly cranky boys to the swimming pool that afternoon. Jared slept on the way home, and went to bed early. We convinced Dennis and Lynne to come over to our house to play Acquire. Only Erin could remember how to play it, so we had a "learning" game, complete with laughing nearly to tears, dirty looks when a play was bad for us, and root beer floats. We stayed up way too late, but it was very fun.
Thursday morning I awoke at 10 am to a quiet house. I couldnt' figure out why I had slept so long and why it was quiet. Turns out Jared had been "kidnapped" by his grandma to go play with Kaleb all morning. I went to pick him up at lunch time, but while I was talking to Erin, he fell asleep on the floor. We let him nap there and I ended up staying the whole day! Ryan came for the family dinner, then we all went home at about 8 pm. Erin and Kaleb left to visit her family in nearby Queen Creek, but we'll see them again in Snowflake for the 24th of July (Pioneer Day) celebration.
