A DATE! A REAL DATE!
Last night, we got to go on a date! One of Ryan's coworkers asked if he could come watch the Boise State Football game at our house (because we have cable through football season). Ryan said sure, then joked that maybe we'd split and leave the kids with him. Surprisingly, he said, "no problem!"
So he and his wife came over and babysat our kids for free! I was worried for them at first, because when they arrived, the boys were unusually rambunctious. They were running through the house, pushing our largest vehicles as fast as they could, accompanied by laughing and screaming. I hoped they would calm down a little for the rookies!
We went out to Mongolian Barbecue, then to the Maize (a corn maze). This year it was shaped like a pirate ship, not that you can tell from the ground! It was a bit cold, but I think being out in it helped us acclimatize. It reminded us of one of our first dates, when we went to the Maize in Utah with our friends Bill and Katrina. Ryan accidentally clocked me in the chin with his Mag-light that night. I told him that I would be holding onto the Mag-light this time!
The first thing the babysitters said when we came in was, "You've got good kids!" They said that Jared "is a smart kid, and very self-sufficient for a 3 year old." Of course, we knew all of that ;) but it's always nice to hear it!
