AH, THAT NEW MACHINE SMELL!
I got my new sewing machine TODAY! And even better, they were having a sale. So I got an even better machine than I was expecting. To make any seamstresses jealous, it has a 10-inch sewing arm, a needle threader, automatic tension adjustment, a "sewing advisor," computerized programmable stitching (I haven't counted how many stitches it has, though), and free motion quilting capabilities. It can even sew letters, upper and lower case, plus all sorts of weird characters with accents, umlauts, etc. So if the fancy should strike, I could sew something in Portuguese!
And it actually does have a smell to it. It's reminiscent of taking a new shower curtain liner out of its packaging, but not as overpowering. Not a very romantic description, but then again, I've always thought that "new car smell" is just plastic fumes, too!
