EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
It wasn't exactly an emergency when Jared called, "Mom, the toilet won't flush!" Nor was it technically an emergency when Zach smeared yogurt up and down his arms and legs, but when I hauled him to the sink, it wouldn't turn on. But it sure was inconvenient!
Turns out our landlord hasn't paid the water bill since February. Nor would she allow us to change the bill into our name. The bills were all returned to the city because they're addressed to the landlord. We finally did get one, the one that said they were going to cut off our water. But we didn't open it, since it's illegal to open someone else's mail!
What a mess.
How wonderful it was to pull our stored water out to make juice, wash sticky hands, and wipe up puddles of yogurt off the floor!
I'm so glad we've been storing water. We don't have enough for our year's supply, but we're working toward that. And it sure helped us out in a minor crisis!

P.S. We went to the city offices and got it taken care of. They said they'd turn it back on tonight before 7. Good thing, too; the boys smell like boys!
