Jared has resumed swimming lessons! We sorta forgot to go to his first one on Monday...ooops! But we were there bright and early (9 am--y'all know I'm not a morning person!) today!
Jared did GREAT! He did everything his teacher told him to do, and didn't balk at going underwater, floating on his back, or kicking on his stomach with his face in the water. I took pictures so Ryan (who worked through high school as a lifeguard and swim instructor) could see how well he did.
When we were signing him up for lessons, the manager suggested we put him in Level 1 classes, as most 4 year olds need to be in Level 1 (they play on the steps and get used to being in water, practice holding their breath, try not to freak out by going under, etc.) But Ryan insisted he needed to be in Lower Level 2, which is the next step up. And boy, was he right! He is completely comfortable. He'll be swimming on his own in no time!
As a bonus, his class has 3 other boys and just 1 girl. That's the opposite of last year. Of course, I think they're all older. One kid, I saw on the roster, is 6 1/2! But boys need to be with boys, no matter what their age!
