Last night I had to hurry and bring in the plants I could and cover up the ones I couldn't. Figuring our wildflowers would kick the bucket when it hit 28 degrees, I cut them all and put them in a vase.
Jared said he climbed onto his (extra deep) window sill and watched me cut flowers. He said he was "a little spy!"
We enjoyed our flowers today. They feel so like Spring, though! They're kind of out of place. Zach only pulled off a couple of petals before I could
The plants are covered up for yet another freezing night. When Jared and I stepped out tonight after dark, he tensed up and nervously said, "Mommy, look!" He was spooked by a short, white apparition floating in the garden. Which are the peppers, covered by a crib sheet. He's really into Halloween this year!
Speaking of Halloween, since it's going to be freezing for the next 4-5 nights, I figure our pumpkins are probably done growing. Check out the size of pumpkin #2! It's about 3 inches across.
The boys helped me paint Jared's headboard. Well, I painted it white yesterday, and today they helped me "age" it by dropping keys and giant hex nuts on it for dents. Then I brushed watered-down brown paint on, and wiped most of it off, so it would look older and more beat-up. I didn't take a picture of it because neither Jared nor I like it. Despite the "antiquing," it still blends in completely with his white wall. Maybe it would look better against a colored wall? Maybe I'll leave it until we move and I can paint his wall something other than white.
Today I also finished staining/varnishing the curtain rod in the living room. I guess I wasn't quite done with the rental house upgrades! It was just a long, dusty, unfinished rod. Not too bothersome, but I happened to have 2-in-1 stain that I bought for a quarter and figured what they hey? I'm not sure it was worth the effort, but the price was right!
There are more photos in our October album. I know flower photos aren't the most interesting, but they were fun to take. There are a few of other things, too. Check 'em out!
