I'M AN AUTHOR!
I'm also a desktop publisher. That's right, I wrote and printed a book, all right here on my computer. But I did not illustrate the book. That task has fallen into the capable hands of the fine artist, Jared.
You see, the book is called A Book About ME! And it's all about Jared.

It came about because Jared told me that he's been trying to read the books in his room, and he just can't. Well, Jared, that's because they are adult books about volcanoes and earthquakes! I told him we needed nice, easy books for him to start with. Meanwhile, I was doing a little dance on the inside, because I know he's capable of reading, but has shown unwarranted reticence, saying he's afraid to try. He seems to have "gotten it" when I told him that he could learn about all sorts of things all by himself if he could read books. His eyes got bright and he said, "Then I won't have to ask YOU stuff all the time!" You'd think that would have been my Eureka! moment, but no, he came up with that on his own.

Instead of going to the library to get first-reader type books like a normal person would have done, I decided to write my own. And luckily, Jared LOVES it. Who wouldn't love reading a book about themselves?

He needed help on a few words, but he blew me away by reading through each sentence rather quickly. He already knew "he" "is" "like" "love" and lots of other words instantly. The other ones, like "volcano" and "dinosaur" he had to sound out. Way to go, J-man!

When we find the book again (Jared says he forgot where he put it), I'll share some pictures of it.
