GIGANTO ZACHO
Since we weighed Zach at the doctor's office this week, I have been pondering the implications. He weighs thirty eight pounds. If you're in young-mom mode like I am, you'll know that 40 pounds is the weight limit for oh-so-many-things. Car seats with 5-point harnesses, strollers, etc. I don't know how fast he'll gain those last two pounds, but wow, I hope it's not for a while!
Can you imagine a tired, cranky just-turned-three year old who can't ride in a stroller without bending it? And how about a crazy-monkey 3 year old who has a seat belt on his booster seat instead of a harness? I'm afraid he'll climb right out, or unbuckle himself at the first opportunity.
Ryan did a test-run by taking Zach to go get our heart-shaped Valentine's pizza in Jared's belt-positioning booster seat. He said he did great, so hopefully it will stay that way.

And then there's the fact that he's defeating our babyproofing efforts. He can just about climb over his baby gate, which keeps him in his room for naps and bedtime. I think he can, but we've always caught him just before he gets a leg over. I'm going to have to install it a little higher.
And remember those toys that The Grinch stole? They've been locked up in our spare bedroom, with a babyproofing doorknob cover to keep the kiddos out. Jared can get in if he tries really hard, but he just doesn't, because he knows he's not supposed to. Zach, on the other hand, just busted the doorknob cover off with sheer brute strength. The other day, when I'd just had it with him, I put him in his room with one of those on the inside of the door. He busted it off twice, no problem.

Some people think that moms with big kids are bragging about how big the are. I don't think that's accurate. I think moms with big kids are scared!

Wow! Matt weights 44lbs and he's 7!!

Back in the summer I took Matt to the barbers and there was a boy also getting his summer haircut. The mom was saying that he was large for his age and that he's the biggest in his class and how people mistaken him for being older.

Looking at him I thought 'Yeah, he's a good size for 12 years old. But maybe he's 10 the way his mom is talking'.

He was 7!!!! Seven years old and the size of a 12 year old!!
