Do you read Parent's magazine? I find some of their articles informative and interesting, some entertaining.
Lately, their most entertaining pieces are about saving money, looking pretty on a budget, and getting kids to eat their vegetables. Doesn't sound very funny, right? But it's so ridiculous, they have to be joking, right?
Here are some examples of their "good deals."
Get Pretty
- Dress up your jeans and tee shirt with this memorable necklace, only $100. (I have lots of pretty necklaces that cost from $18 down to $1. Yes, ONE DOLLAR.)
- Wear cute shoes to run your errands, only $75 (My shoes never cost more than $20)
- Buy a bra that fits, only $44 (I haven't bought a new one in a while, but I think they're usually less than $20?)
- Makeup brushes like the pros use are so affordable now! Just $35. (Are they really going to make me more beautiful than the brush that comes with the makeup?)
- A pop of color can liven up your wardrobe. These bright sweaters, only $178. (I think I could easily buy 10 sweaters for that much. Not on sale, either.)
- Accentuate your waist with a belt, $40. (I've never thought the belt-over a shirt thing was all that attractive, but if you must, go buy one for half that!)
Great Buys on Kids Clothes (they do realize they'll get torn and stained, right?)
- Color-changing tee shirt, $35 (my boys have never noticed that their shirts don't change color in the sun, and I can buy 10 tee shirts for that price!)
- Color-changing girl's top, $45 (I bet that's more than I spend on an entire kid's wardrobe per size)
Make Your Own Animal Cookies
- $12 for organic cookie mix,$20 for 5 cookie cutters (or pay $10 for 100 cookie cutters and make regular cookies. Does being organic magically make cookies healthy?)
Low-Sugar Drinks for Kids
- Prices range from 65 cents to $2 per serving! (Or you could buy a can of 100% juice concentrate for $1 and dilute it. Voila! That's about 5 cents per serving.)
I know that I'm a bargain shopper, and deep down, I'm really just kind of cheap. But when I read these articles, I suddenly know how people spend more money than they make!

Here, here! I can't believe some of the stuff that I read in magazines lately. It is just a joke. I can't justify spending that amount of money on anything. LOL :)
