McDonald's
Jared was so bored today that he was getting into trouble--like when he poked Zach with a fork. We needed to get out of the house, but where to? Jared wanted to go on a walk or to the park, but it's just plain too hot. I guess it's only 100 degrees now, but today is supposed to get up to 110. So at Lynne's advice, we went to McDonald's, which has an indoor PlayPlace. Oh boy, was that fun! It's reminiscent of a giant hamster tunnel. When we arrived, a little boy immediately ran up and asked Jared to play with him. I think he was quite a bit older, but about the same size, because he seemed frustrated with Jared's 2-year old communication skills. He kept telling him to stop screaming.
We had hours of fun until Jared hit a little girl in the face. A swat on the butt started the tears flowing and ended our outing. Then I wondered if it was worth the trip. He only followed me for fear of being left alone, and once outside, I had to drag Jared out to the car. He threw himself on the ground twice. The second time, he landed on his butt. When he tried to get up, the asphalt burned his hands, then his legs, then his hands again. Finally he just started screaming bloody murder until I helped him up. After that ordeal, he thought it was okay to get in the car and off that crazy hot parking lot.
Zach did much better than Jared, of course. He seemed to like the noise and movement of all the kids running around.
It's days like today that make me wonder why anyone lives in this place. And why we looked so hard for a house WITHOUT a swimming pool.
