Baby Surprises
Zach is 2 1/2 months old tomorrow, but he seems to think that he's six months old! I tried a new outfit on him today, sized 6M, and it fits great. I took some pictures to show my friend Bonnie, who sent it to him. But Zach didn't want to lean back for his photo shoot. He did some crunches and sat up all by himself! He can stay upright for about 15 seconds, then slowly falls to one side or another. But for 2 1/2 months, that's quite an accomplishment!
He has never been very wobbly, but he's rock steady now. Visiting my friend who has a baby 2 weeks older than Zach reminded me just how strong Zach is than normal.
I played barber today. Jared's hair was about 3 inches long on top, and a bit out of control, so I have been thinking about buzzing it. I asked him if he would like to have a short haircut like Daddy's, and he was surpringly upset by the idea. All day he's been near tears when I mention the hair cut. Finally, as I was plugging in the clippers, he managed to express what was upsetting him. He said, "My want stay blonde!" He thought that if I gave him a hair cut "like Daddy's," it meant that his hair would turn brown! After I assured him that his hair would stay blonde, he was ultra-cooperative.
While I had the clippers out, I just went ahead and gave Zach his first haircut! Most of the hair he was born with has already fallen out, leaving a "baby mullet" or Grandpa Eagar-style ring around the back. I thought I'd make sure to have some of Zach's original baby hair for his baby book. I just buzzed off the mullet. It's amazing how much older he looks, though.
