AH-WUH
That's what Zach says when he sees flowers. By far his current favorite baby sign, he does it completely wrong, but with enthusiasm. And he says, "Ahw-wuh." No, it doesn't sound like "agua," it sounds like the middle part of "flower." I just don't know how else to spell it. Does that count as his first word? I dunno.
He likes all the silk flowers I've been putting around the house to stage it for selling. And Saturday, I bought some real ones for the front of the house! I'd never done it before. I was intimidated. But this time, I was under orders from the realtor. So with the crazy Lowe's plant guy's help (he was awesome--he helped five people find exactly what they wanted in about 3 minutes), I bought some pink wave petunias (not sure why they're called that) for some hanging pots on either side of the garage door, and some purple ones to put with the leftover pink ones in a big white pot on our walkway. Instead of getting dumb old geraniums (crazy plant guy's suggestion) for height in the middle of the big pot, I bought the cutest little hot pink bougainvillea "topiary!" I wonder if it would survive a summer in Boise, then indoors for the winter. I guess I should look that up. Because I love it and don't want to leave it behind!

The boys had lots of fun helping me finish planting the flowers. Lucky for me, they were playing at Grandma's house until I was nearly done. That was a good thing. Zach tore a few petunias before I could stop him. He's fascinated with them and they're much too fragile to withstand his enthusiasm. He cracked us up by not wanting to touch his knees to the grass or concrete, so he walked on all fours with his bum in the air. Then he grabbed some grass and tried to eat it, and got it stuck on his lips. It made him look like a little baby cow!
