EASTER
We had a nice Easter. After subjecting poor Zach to the traditional bunny-ear photo shoot (which he seemed to enjoy, as you can see from the photos), we dyed Easter Eggs. Jared had a great time turning his allotment dark blue. That's his favorite color, and he hardly even paid attention to the other available colors. He also liked using his fingers as a dipper, so the were blue up to his knuckles. Luckily, a bath took care of that before he had to go to church with blue hands!
I went to church with blue hands, though. We didn't hide cold eggs this year, which we learned causes them to "sweat" dye all over our hands and clothes. But despite this precaution, I still managed to get some dye on my hands Easter morning.
The boys looked so cute in their white shirts and ties! Jared got his first real tie (not a baby one) and belt, and he wore them proudly.
Jared has become quite the appreciative kid, and made a big deal about the contents of his basket. Zach enjoyed taking his books and toy out of his basket, too, then patted them fondly while watching Jared search for eggs. Jared loved the Easter egg hunt. He "got it" this year and ran all over the yard to find them. It didnt' take very long, either!
We didn't give them much candy; Zach only got half a jelly bean! But nevertheless, both boys were hyper during church. As were all the Nursery kids. Wow, what a day! We had 5 kids out of 8 that were brand new, visiting, or were otherwise not familiar with the routine. They could not sit for the lesson, and while we were cleaning up snacktime, they ran around like a bunch of crazies. I stepped out for a second to check on Zach, and when I got back, the Relief Society had sent an ambassador to tell us to close the dividing curtain so we could keep the kids farther from the RS room because they were bothering the women. What??? They're their kids acting up, and it was for a total of 3 minutes. As you can imagine, confining 8 crazy kids into half the space only made things worse. So we got them out of there and on a walk. Things went better after that. I was glad when church was over!
Oddly enough, our bishop missed this Sunday. He was in the hospital for hiccups!
I found myself wondering how we'd have to do some things differently when we're in Idaho next Easter. Ryan is used to an outdoor egg hunt, but I noticed that several parts of the country got snow on Easter. We may have to move the egg hunt indoors next year! And maybe we can even get the boys those cute Easter outfits with sweater vests. This year it wasn't too broiling, but our first Easter here, Jared wore shorts to church!
