ANNIVERSARY AND MOTHER'S DAY
I didn't even think about it at the time. I was too love-struck! It didn't even cross my mind until I went to book a florist for our wedding and they said, "You want flowers the day before Mother's Day? Are you nuts?" Our anniversary variably falls on Mother's Day or very close to it.
At first I thought that would be a bad thing. One present for both occassions. But turns out I can justify one BIGGER gift because it counts for two.
I couldn't think of any hints to give Ryan this year except the latest Harry Potter book. That didn't work out, so I thought and thought and thought that maybe I would like an MP3 player to take on our road trip when we drive for two looong days to Boise. I was hoping for a 1GB flash drive, then Ryan found this great deal on some older model (but brand new) iPods and said that's the one he was going to get me. Wow!
It's got 60 GB (when Ryan and I met, my computer's hard drive had 4 GB) plays music, photo slideshows (who needs a mini photo album in the purse anymore?) and VIDEO. That means that after I figure out how to use the thing, I can put Jared's favorite movie on it and he can watch the tiny little screen in the car. We're going to get an FM transmitter so the iPod will play through my car stereo, too, so it will be my automotive stereo system.
I got a cute little orange case for it at Ross that has a bullsnap and straps and all sorts of doo-dads. Jared thinks it's the cooolest.

I gave Ryan a new light-weight backpacking backpack for all his outdoorsy activities. Even if he isn't snapped up by our new ward's Young Men program, he'll still find a way to get into Boise's Scouting program and get outdoors! Now, what for Father's Day???

Hey Sis Sus

I got an iPod for my birthday, nice big drive, plays video, all that good stuff. At first, I didn't think I'd really use it that much, but after a couple of months, I've discovered how great it really is.

One of the main things that I use it for are listening to podcasts while I bike to work. That's made a big difference on the commute.
