TRACTOR RIDE
We went to Bass Pro Shops today to see the taxidermy animals and big fish tank. The boys really liked the giant catfish, although when it swam toward them, they both backed away. Zach was about ready to turn and run! They didn't relax until I tapped the glass and showed them that it wouldn't come eat them. Seriously, that thing was huge! Jared told me later that he thought it was a shark. Too cute.
Zach was exhausted from all the fun and slept all the way home. Miraculously, he didn't wake up when we arrived! So I let him finish his nap in his car seat. He was understandably grumpy and stiff when he did wake up. Until he saw that Grandpa was taking Jared for a spin on his ride-on lawn mower (hereafter referred to as "the tractor"). Jared got to push and pull the levers that make it go forward and backward, and Grandpa even gave him the wheel! He did great steering...when he paid attention. He got distracted and nearly ran off the road a few times, or so I hear. Then it was Zach's turn, which did much to improve his mood. He didn't even attempt to steer, but he enjoyed his ride. And Jared got an extra spin around the yard by hopping in the trailer!
Of course, I ran after the tractor like a fool, snapping pictures. And of course, I've already scrapped the pictures. What can I say, when inspiration hits, you run with it!

If you don't know, all the grandkids on my side of the family call my dad Babu (pronounced Bob-oo) because that's what the oldest grandkid called him when she was learning to talk. And my mom is Nana for the same reason.

I seem to remember posting about another time when I carefully planned an outing, just to have it canceled or trumped by something (or anything) with tires...
(Last month, our picnic at the park was derailed when the contractor showed up with a Bobcat)
