What is going on here? A maple tree in our neighborhood (that's it over there on the right) started turning red a few weeks ago--in August! And our burning bush (sp. euonymus elatus, if you wanted to know) is a bit confused, too. It has two bright red leaves on it.
And when we went on our hike today, we noticed yellow cottonwood leaves, orange oak leaves, red sumac leaves, more changing maples, and shockingly bright red Virginia Creeper.
I remember one year in Provo, I went up high in Rock Canyon (elevation 5000 ft.) the weekend before General Conference (first weekend in October) to scrounge up some fall foliage to decorate. There wasn't much of a selection. But there's just about as much here, down the Treasure Valley, already!
I should also add that today on our hike, we had to pack jackets. The official high today was 70, and the projected low is 37!!! Brrr! We've been pulling on the blankets at night and putting the boys in long pj's.
Of course, now that it is September, this post has lost a bit of its impact. Dang it, I knew I should have posted this yesterday!

It's crazy!! It's starting to feel like fall here, too. Yesterday, we didn't even break 65...I am sooo not ready for summer to end yet!
