Happy Birthday, Mr. Zachary!

Unfortunately, today wasn't very special. We will celebrate on Friday instead. Weekdays are just too busy lately!

At age 3:
  • Zach loves kisses and hugs. I woke up in the middle of the night this week to his arms wrapped around my neck and him giving me many, many kisses repeatedly.
  • He loves bathtime. He loves water. He gets in trouble for turning on and playing in our sinks, soaking himself and the respective room in the process. He's been forbidden from turning on sinks anymore.
  • He always has a scratch, scrape, or bruise, and now he's got a permanently brown tooth to show how rough-and-tumble he is. He pretty much always has a dirty face, too.
  • Whenever I ask what movie we should watch, he yells, "Lightening McQueen!" even though we're all quite sick of it. He hasn't watched CARS all the way through in about a year. Actually, he's not real good at watching a whole movie unless he's snuggling with Mommy.
  • He's a pig, as always. He's usually polite about his hunger, and a very common phrase of his is, "More pweeeeez!"
  • He likes to type to Ryan on instant messenger. He types zachy, jared, mom, mommy, dad, and daddy. With some encouragement, he will sound out and type some other small words, like cat and dog.
  • Some of the words he uses are a total crack-up, because he still has a tiny little baby voice (which I love!) It just seems like he shouldn't be allowed to say, "instrument," "scientist," "character," and "equipment."
  • He looks for Little Ceasar's signs and then asks if we can go to "the pizza store."
  • He likes to make up stories. Last night, he told me all about how we'd gone swimming in the neighborhood pool "last week" and he had a girl swimming lessons teacher. The pool's not open, and Zach hasn't had a swimming lesson in his life, except in his imagination!
  • He wants to be a "rocket-ship driver" when he grows up, so he can visit all the planets. Mommy, Daddy, and Jared get to come along, too.
Today wasn't too special, but we'll pull something fun together for Friday. And yesterday, we went to the park to fly our kite. He really liked that. I'll post more pictures of that in another post!
