Snapshots from the ultrasound movie

I'm such a genius! I figured out how to get snapshots from our ultrasound DVD. Now if I could only figure out how to pull out a few moments of live video from the DVD! I'm not sure I have the software.

But believe me, nobody's gonna watch the whole thing. It's 46 minutes long! I told you she was s-l-o-w!

I'm no ultrasound expert, but I think I do pretty well for a plain old mom with a lot of anatomy classes under her belt. So I snapped some shots, then "colored in" the baby or specific parts, and labeled parts in common names (not femurs or fibulas) so you can see what I saw.

They actually might be easier to see if you go to this link and choose "full screen." They'll be lots bigger. And there are a few more there that I won't post below.

First is a nice profile with a cute little hand:

Next shows the baby at the end of the ultrasound, when the tech said she'd go back and look at the gender again. I was worried, because he'd decided to cross his legs! But she got him from underneath.
Here is his back, neck, and head:What really cracked me up is that most of the time, he was like this! She couldn't get a clear profile because his feet were in the way. That's his foot there, touching his forehead! No, it's not a hand. Definitely a foot.
I'm pretty proud of this shot. In the video, she keeps zooming deeper and shallower, so you can get a sense of the baby's position. But a snapshot doesn't show all the layers at once. So I superimposed two images from within seconds of each other on the movie. You can see the individual images here and here.
The ultrasound tech kept saying, "that does NOT look comfortable!" I agree!

But Jared seems perfectly able to imitate the position! He must understand the ultrasound pictures. He did this by himself!

my last ultrasound, the technitian said "wow her head is really big" and I said "is that good or bad" to which she replied "it can be good OR BAD". and that was the end of it. then she said she couldn't find Olivia's toes but she was "sure they are there somewhere". So I would have hoped that she would take the time to find them! :)

what fun shots thanks for sharing! And we have pics of Anna or Kaleb in that same position. Looks very uncomfortable :)
