Art Contest

I'm so proud of Jared! He was reluctant a few times during the process, but he entered a photo he took in a PTA art contest at his school. The theme is "Beauty is..." I'm not exactly sure what they expect elementary kids to do with something that vague, but Jared pretty much just took a picture of something pretty.

And of course, because he's only 5, he got a lot of help from Mom. But he held the camera, snapped lots of pictures, came up with ideas of what to photograph, and learned the Rule of Thirds. Then I coached him as he clicked away on Photoshop, fixing his picture up. First of all, his favorite shot was totally crooked, so we had to fix that. Then we brightened up the colors, tinted some brown grass green again, burned the edges, and I think his favorite part was adding a black border around the edge. He can definitely handle himself on a computer!

We picked up the finished print at Costco Saturday and he was so excited to hold his work in his hands! Doesn't it look awesome?
