Exciting times!

The past few days have been wonderful in terms of the boys reaching some milestones!

Luke is gulping down large quantities of solid foods. He's keeping up with the precedent his brothers set just fine. Yesterday, he ate 1/3 cup of applesauce mixed with oatmeal. This is when most babies eat about 1-2 tablespoons at a time. And when it was gone, he cried, and cried hard.

Jared decided to take a shower by himself! He washed his own hair and scrubbed himself with a cool new color-changing pouf. This is very nice for mom!

Zach decided that he actually can dress himself. I've been telling him that for nearly 2 years, but he just didn't want to even try. And suddenly he can put on his underwear, pants, shirt, and socks. All by himself. I'm ecstatic!

Luke is also grabbing everything he can, which is great (as long as it's not my hair). This means that he likes to play with toys, and keeps himself occupied. It also means that I have to take toys along when we go places, and then pick them up when he drops them a hundred times. But still, it's fun. It also means that he likes to be in the MegaSaucer. I love that toy!

Zach also decided, rather suddenly, that he can write! Ryan was helping him work on a restaurant place mat game and said, "Okay, write 6." And he did! Ryan didn't realize it was the first time he'd really written anything. And today, he pulled out a MagnaDoodle and did this:
He just rambled off the letters as he wrote them. After that, he tried to write "cat" on my suggestion, but kept erasing his "c" because he said it wasn't very good. We'll try again later.

Zach has also caught the reading bug. He wants to read all the books Jared is reading. While he's a ways off from doing that, he's very excited to sound out words with me in simpler books. After he gets all the letter sounds said, he's actually better at putting them together into a word than Jared was.

Aren't my kids so awesome? Hooray for independent kids!

Oh my I remember those days. It is SO NICE when the kids become more independent. Especially the showers!
