Shoe-Tying Champ

It seems like these boys are growing up overnight. I mean, how in the world did Jared get all the way to first grade so fast? And we never got around to teaching him to tie his shoes. My guilt reached an all-time high when he went to Cub Scout Day Camp and learned how to tie some sort of complicated knot. Hmmm...if he can tie one of those, I think I should teach him to tie a bow!

I figured it was about time he learned. Velcro shoes are getting hard to find in his size. I tied his left shoe while he tied his right, and he got it down on the first try! True to Jared style, he immediately demonstrated how to knot the bow (it was his idea and he already knew how to do it).

Then we went downstairs to show Dad. All on his own was a little tougher, but I think he could figure it out in a pinch.

I'm in love with these shoes of his. I think they're already getting too small, though!
