Gone Swimming, Visitors from Utah, Technical Difficulties
Last Friday we tried out the brand new public pool at Rose Lane. It has shallow areas where little kids can reach, and lots of water spraying and dumping and dripping all over the place. There's a big slide, but there's a little one, too. It's just like a playground slide, but with water. They have a lifeguard at the top to help the kids get on, and one at the bottom to catch them, because there's no age restrictions on that slide.
It turns out that it's overkill. There are too many water features, so there's no space to just play in the water. But we had fun anyway.
The water was colder than we expected, and Zach didn't like it one bit! So we waded around with him out of the water. Jared's lips turned purple, too.
Jared was excited, but didn't like playing with all the water features. They're quite powerful and scary to a little person. He wanted to go down the little slide, but then chickened out at the top. But later, he said he wanted to do it, and just went for it without hesitation! Too bad the lifeguard at the bottom wasn't doing his job. He was looking the other way, so Jared just lay there under water as I screamed at the lifeguard from the top of the slide. Another mom grabbed Jared while the lifeguard just looked around like an idiot. But Jared said it was fun and he wanted to go again later.
Zach is starting to smile and coo and respond. It's very cute. We got some cute pictures of him, which are posted in the photo album.
Our friends Bill & Katrina Bleyl stopped by with their son, Caden. Caden is only two weeks older than Jared, but since they live in Lehi, Utah, we don't get to see them much. Bill's family is from here; he and Ryan were friends in high school. Jared wasn't very good at sharing his toys, and didn't like the intrusion. He told me, "this boy have go away." Jared's only good at sharing with his friends from down the street, and that's only because he has lots of practice, and so do they. It was fun to see the Bleyls again! But I forgot to take any pictures. Ugh!
I picked up Zach's birth announcements yesterday and will start to address them, but I really want to get my announcements website back online before I mail them. This is a rare opporunity for a mass-mailing of sample announcements with my web address attached. Should someone get the announcement and actually decide to look at my web site, it had better be there! I hope I can find a way around my technical difficulties and get it up again soon.
