Blessing Zachary
I stayed up too late finishing some little white pants for Zach to wear. Actually, they're not so little. I have a baby pattern book that I used to make Jared some black pants when he was 7 months old. Jared needed the largest of three sizes in the book. So I used the smallest size for Zach, since he is a newborn and all. I tried them on, but couldn't even get them past his knees! I remembered Jared's black pants and tried them on Zach. They were a little bit too long, but otherwise fit, so I started over and cut out some new white pants with the largest sized pattern. But I was glad to have him all in white. And of course, we used the white blanket that Ryan and Jared were both blessed in. That's a neat little tradition.
Zach woke up extra happy this morning; he was all coos and smiles for a very long time!
When we arrived at church, an old lady in the ward came over to tell me that she thought it was neat that I had my boy all in white. She usually expects girls to be dressed in white, but not boys.
Surprisingly, our visiting family members took up a big middle pew at church! We were even kind of cramped. Ryan's grandpa drove down from Snowflake, and his grandma came from just a few miles away. Ryan's parents and brothers Brad and Scott came, and Scott brought his girlfriend, Jennifer. Which was kind of fun because they were all there to see me sustained as the new Nursery leader. Yay, I think?
And some family friends (including Ryan's boss!) from the ward Ryan grew up in just happened to be in our ward for stake purposes, so Ryan asked them to join in the circle.
After Sacrament Meeting, we went out in front of the chapel to take some pictures. In a very strange coincedence, all but one of us was wearing blue! Jared did NOT want his picture taken, and we employed all sorts of tricks to get him to uncover his face and/or turn toward the camera. You can see more photos in our Yahoo photo album (there's a link over on the right, under my photo). Then Jared was excited to go to Nursery, but could have cared less that I was there with him. In fact, he seemed to resent my interference in his play time. I hope that doesn't persist!
When I was in Primary, I'd said that I'd rather be in Nursery because I "get" kids their age (18 months through about 4 years). I was intimidated by the 10 year olds in Primary! And I'm excited to work with Deena, who I like a lot. But I had just gotten back into Sunday School & Relief Society and making friends there, so I'm bummed about that. And now my free 2 hours of weekly babysitting/break from my 2-year-old has been replaced with 2 hours of dealing with (up to) 13 preschoolers! My mother-in-law is the Nursery leader in her ward, though, so maybe we can share ideas!

Wow, what a day for you, I am so glad you shared all the details, I started to cry when I remembered it was your special day of blessing Zach. It is so hard for me to be here and not there! I'm praying for strenght to 'hang on another 9 1/2 months', it isn't easy as you know.
We are so happy for your family, it sounds like you had a wonderful day, a day to remember.
