We hope you are all having a wonderful Easter, a time to remember Christ's resurrection and the comfort we receive from knowing that we will live again, too.
We dyed our Easter Eggs after dinner on Saturday. Jared had fun, and Grandpa made a really ugly one by soaking it in as many colors as he could think of for as long as he could. It looked like a rock! Jared was very impressed. Zach wanted in on the fun, but kept smashing the shells. So we gave him a plastic one and he thought that was just fine.
Last night, we read the Easter story from the New Testament Story Book that Grandma and Grandpa Lancaster sent for Christmas. When I read to Jared that Christ's spirit left his body, he said, "That means he died." Then wh
en we got to the part about the resurrection, I asked him what the means. We'd been talking all day about how it means to "come back to life." But no, he said, "That means his spirit came back to his body." I think I taught that lesson last Easter in Nursery. I guess it really stuck with him!The Easter Bunny came during the night, but church starts so early that we didn't look for our eggs until we got home. Zach and Jared both did great this time, and found all the eggs in no time. I guess the Easter Bunny needs to be trickier next year. Jared
found both boys' Easter baskets and read the tags to make sure they got the right ones. Zach was shocked to discover that pulling a plastic egg open showered him with candy! He tried to open all the eggs after that. Even the hard-boiled ones! Good thing we're planning on eating them soon.Jared got a Lightening McQueen and Tow Mater kite, a wind-up chicken that lays bubble gum eggs, and a scoop & throw gall game. Zach got foam letters that stick to the bath wall when wet, and between the two of them, the got three Leap Frog Letter Factory movies. Grandma & Grandpa Lancaster sent a Book of Mormon Stories video. As it was a highly appropriate Sunday activity, they already got that one out and watched it!
