THE NEW HOUSE
I don't have any new photos to show you of the new house, but I'll get you some as soon as we're more settled in. I love this house! We were worried, with the rent being so much lower than other comparable homes, that it would be beat up and dirty. But it was obviously a nice house that someone loved before they sold it to an investor. There are very fancy dimmer switches (it took us a while to figure out how to use them) all over the place, a water softener, deck, storage shed, cabinets and workbench in the garage, etc. We don't know if something's wrong with the gas fireplace or if we just can't figure that out, too.
The kitchen counters are pink. But they're surprisingly pretty! There's a fancy new dishwasher, stove/oven and microwave. The fridge looks kinda old, but it's pretty big. The laundry room is big! with a counter to fold clothes on, under which is plenty of room for my three-bag laundry sorter cart, and above which is a closet rod.
The boys' bedrooms are on the small side, but all the closets are outfitted with shelves and multiple-level closet rods, so there's lots of room for toys in there. The master is pretty big, with a walk-in closet (yay! my first one!) and a pretty big bathroom.
Turns out the house is really a split-level, which thing we have always detested. But we didn't even notice this until we'd lived here a few days. It's hardly noticeable because there are just three gradual steps up to the front door, then three steps down into the family room. The staircase up is just slightly shorter than usual.
The three-car garage is currently full of boxes, but it's so big that we had room to stack them in rows with aisles between. It's so easy to find things, and there are hardly any boxes in the house! Of course, one day we'd like to park in the garage, but it's gonna be a while.
Anyway, we're loving the new house. More photos to come soon!
