GEARING UP
I used to think that the term "gearing up" referred to gears in a motor, and meant getting ready to move ahead at full-speed. Maybe it does, but today it means "getting some gear." For sewing.
Because I didn't remember all the little things that got stolen along with my sewing machine.

Like my pincushions. The insurance company said they'd replace everything, but the Viking store didn't even sell pin cushions! And it seems like most of the options are tomatoes or are lacy. So I replaced my home-made pincushions with home-made pincushions. And
tres chic ones at that!
My first attempt turned out entirely too small. So I started over. I over-corrected and made it too big, but I think I like it! The cube may be too big, so I may try that one again. I'm sure the boys would like a big soft cube to play with!
I almost forgot. Jared found my first pincushion,

the one that was too small. He is always willing to take someone's garbage, so he wanted it. This time, it was easy to turn it into something useful. We put an elastic strap on it, and he has his own wrist pincushion! He thinks he's in charge of removing pins as I sew, so it just may come in handy.

I think everyone else got the "sewing talent" but me. Maybe one of these years I will be patient enough to take my machine out of the box....NAH! Watch out, your going to have a "pack rat" like me!
Love the stylish pin cushions! You are very talented. Jealous! ~melanie
What awesome pin cushions. They are awesome. I totally agree with the tomato's and the frilly pin cushions. I wish they had some that were better looking. You are so talented. :)
