ALL I WANTED WAS TO WATCH CONFERENCE!
What a day. I mean, what a day!
We went downstairs to find someone had raided the refrigerator. Yogurt was smeared down the side of the kitchen peninsula, with a big puddle on the floor. More was squished into the upholstered ottoman in the family room. And there was a big wet puddle in the carpet where the yogurt perpetrator had tried to pour a cup of water into a spray bottle. I hate to think what would have happened if he had succeeded! Who knows what would have been sprayed to death?
Eating two servings of yogurt didn't seem to slow down Zach's appetite for our traditional Pillsbury Orange Rolls. We devoured two cans in minutes. I think Jared ate 4!
Then we sat down to watch General Conference on tv. Or at least, Ryan and I did. The boys were bouncing off the walls and ceiling (and had been before the orange rolls, too), despite their crankiness from slight colds. Then Jared's slight cold turned into an asthma attack. I sent him upstairs ahead of me so I could give him a breathing treatment, and right as I walked into his room, he coughed so hard he threw up all over his bed.
Nice.
The general crankiness and three episodes of barfing were enough to test my sanity, but it gets worse. Jared was coughing constantly for an hour. Ryan had the Jeep with the car seats--he'd taken Zach to the Green Belt for a walk between sessions. So I couldn't take Jared to buy some cough suppressant. The poor kid kept saying, "I'm tired. I want to take a rest, but my body won't let me! I want to stop coughing!"
So when Ryan came home, I took my Jeep to WalMart for some cough medicine. As usual, they were out of most of their inventory, but I finally found something that would work. Then I got into the "20 Items or Less" line, where a man who did not appear to speak English was buying a whole cart full of groceries. Finally I got through and out to the car. I stuck in my key and turned, and...nothing happened. NOTHING! It didn't even try to start.
That's when I realized that I had left my cell phone home.
Seriously! What is up with today?

Just to add to the mayhem...my Jeep is fine and is back home. Phew! But Jared puked profusely this evening. This time on the couch. He doesn't seem to understand the concept of a barf bucket, since there was one right next to his face and only a little bit actually made it in.
So I washed the couch (thank goodness for removable covers!) along with 4, count 'em FOUR loads of laundry. That's not counting the things that can't be tossed in the washer. I got Jared's bed reconstructed at about 11 pm. Now I need to transfer him from my bed so I can crash.
So much for my "beautiful day of peace and rest!"
And could anyone tell me if I missed anything important in Conference? I caught about 15 minutes, here and there.

What a bummer of a day. Just remember the talk (if you got to hear it) that said, we are all going through challenges! Not that that makes our challenges easier. Hang in there. Tommarrow is another day. Maybe even the best day ever. Love ya, mel

I am so sorry, that sounds like a yucky day. Hope Jared is feeling better today and that you got some sleep.

Someday you will laugh about it...I promise!
