NEW COUCH, NEW PHOTOS
Sorry if my posts are dumb and boring.
We have been short a couch since we moved last year. In the duplex, it wasn't a problem, but now with room to breathe, and separate family and living rooms, we kinda need two. We've been greeting the home teachers with camp chairs!
I have been looking at yard sales, but some people are delusional and want to sell their ugly old couch at a yard sale for $300. Or even an otherwise nice, pretty one that's been shredded by a cat for $150. I don't know about you, but I head out on Saturday mornings with about $40 cash.
So I was prepared to tighten our belts and save up to buy a couch from an actual furniture store. In like a year.
But then I found one! It's not my favorite style, but it's sort of unassuming. It doesn't draw attention to itself. And the green is really dark turquoise, so it goes with all my turquoise stuff surprisingly well! Not to mention that $20 fits into my budget quite nicely.

I've also been collecting dark wood picture frames, and finally pulled them all together to put above the couch. I found one that is 20x30 inches really cheap at Michael's, and I've always wanted a huge family portrait. So when we took our family photos in August, I was excited to get it printed huge to put in that frame. Turns out if I had printed it 20x30, my head would have been 5 inches across. That seemed kind of narcissistic, so I drew a virtual mat on PhotoShop so the photo could be a bit smaller. I love how it turned out! It would have cost a fortune to get a mat that size, and besides, where would I find a turquoise polka-dot mat to match my curtains?

I love the living room now. It feels like we actually live here instead of just staying a while...even though we're just staying a while.

SO SO Cute!! Sorry I've been a-wall for a little bit! I just read your posts on google reader. Had a great laugh about the potty training!! I am waiting till Christmas break, I think. Or, until the box of Costco diapers that I bought last month runs out... whichever comes first. HATE HATE HATE potty training!! But, you've inspired me to bring up our seat from the basement. Oh, and I'm glad you're not worried about the recall!!
