WHAT IS A DIGITAL SCRAPBOOK DESIGNER?
I think that most people don't understand the contest I was in and what I won. So I'll try to explain.
The contest was for Digital Scrapbook Place (DSP) to find new talent to hire as designers. Over 50 people entered, and 7 people were offered positions with the company (including me, WAHOO!!!)
During the contest, we did what we will be doing for the company; we drew scrapbooking supplies on our computers.
So I draw realistic ribbons and flowers and staples and paper clips and scrapbooking paper in PhotoShop, then bundle them into kits. DSP will then put these kits in their store for sale. When people buy my kits, they can immediately download the files to their computers, and can use them over and over again to make their own digital scrapbook pages. Beats a trip to Michael's!
And I'll get $3 for each time people buy my kits from the store.
It's harder than it sounds, actually. I thought I was pretty good about 2 years ago, but I cringe now to think how elementary-school it must have looked! I've been working really hard on my techniques to make my graphics better.
DSP never permits some methods of "designing" that other sites allow. It's pretty obvious on some sites that their designers scan or take pictures of real scrapbooking supplies, such as bows and silk flowers, then erase the background. At DSP we have to start from scratch! Well, I guess there are some allowances, but we definitely aren't allowed to include scanned supplies in our kits (that violates the manufacterer's rights, anyway).
So hopefully that helps you understand what I'm talking about!
