Customer Service

For those of you who left commented on your own horrendous customer service calls, I have to mention one more thing.

Do you know how stinkin' hard it is to find customer service phone numbers these days?

Nowhere in any of the literature that accompanied my new computer did the phone number appear. Only the web site. HELLO! My computer's not hooked up yet, so how am I going to get to your web site?

And just to make things much nicer, after you've kicked the kids off of PBSkids.org (which you intentionally loaded up so they'd let you set up your computer) to use their computer, it takes several minutes of searching their site, because apparently they try to limit their call volume by making the phone number impossible to find. You have to go through all sorts of pages listing all the online resources that don't require human interaction, then when you finally find a promising link, it opens up an email form.

Not too surprisingly, if you skip the "technical support" pages and go straight to the "I want to buy something from you" page, their number is nice and big and easy to find.

And nowhere can I find a place to leave any feedback about being on hold for 3 hours. "Feedback is restricted to web site issues," it says. You can only choose "broken link" or "typo" or something like that. There's just not an online form for "your customer service award should be revoked."

Why is it that this subject calls up so many emotional reactions from everyone? Why does it have to be so dang frustrating!?!?
