Terrace Lakes

Snow boots and swim suits!

We tagged along with the Venturers to Terrace Lakes Resort for the second year. And for the second year, we rented a little cabin instead of tenting it on the snow (brrr!!!)

We really wanted to get there early, but Jared had class picture day, so he couldn't skip school. But we left straight from picking him up. The boys were so excited for this trip all week!

We got there with a little daylight left, so the boys went exploring while I made dinner in the cabin. It doesn't have a kitchenette, but we took our little toaster oven to make chicken nuggets and tater tots (last year it was mini frozen pizzas). Then we bundled up in our snow gear and hit the sledding hill in the dark. Turns out the snow was old and frozen, so it hurt our bums. So we went back to the cabin, where we used Luke's electric bottle warmer to make hot chocolate (see how resourceful we are?)

We were very excited to discover that cabin #10 is bigger than cabin #9 (which we stayed in last year). Although quite small, #10 has a love seat that pulls out to a twin bed! Zach was very excited to sleep on that fantastic contraption! Jared had been looking forward to sleeping on the floor, so he decided that's what he wanted to do instead of sharing with Zach.

The next morning, we toasted bagels and had more hot chocolate before gearing up again for sledding. The snow was still unforgiving, and not as fun as last year, but we still had a good time.

Then we had a picnic before heading to the hot-spring pool. Luke took a nap while the boys played and we adults relaxed in the pool. When he woke up, he got to come in, too.
He didn't love it, nor did he hate it. The pool was nice and warm, but anything out of the water got cold in a hurry! When we got out, there were snow flurries in the air. So Luke only lasted 45 minutes or so. But it was a good first swim experience for sure!

We're all tired from our trip, but we made some good memories! Here are the pictures.

Did you go there last year? Rings a bell somehow. Looks super fun! And I am so sad that we are missing you guys and Ken's family. There goes the family picture :(
