The Best Day of My Life

Jared and Zach became Young Eagles today! The Young Eagles program, sponsored by Harrison Ford (known to my boys as Hans Solo) give kids an opportunity to fly in a private airplane for a few minutes, I guess inspiring some to become pilots.

As for my boys, well, they couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces! Another boy flew with them, and their pilot, Jim, said that he rarely has a flight when everyone really loves it. When we were done at the airport, we bought sodas and went to the nearby park for an hour, then to the movies. But none of that really mattered, because before we even left the hangar, Zach declared, "This is the best day of my life!"

Jared lost the coin toss, so he sat in back.

Luke was bummed that he isn't old enough to fly, but just being at the airport was pretty cool!

Is it just me, or does this door like like it's from an old car?

Watch out, Zach's at the controls!

As a back-seat flyer, Jared to wear a headset so he could hear the pilot.

In the front seat, Zach got to take control of the plane a few times.

Happy and ready to go!

Take off!

Losing sight of them.

I took lots more pictures, but this is all Picasa will let me upload right now. So click here to see the rest! They're captioned with the rest of the story.
